PORC-7221 series HD SDI/SD SDI/DVB-ASI optical receivers

PORC-7221 optical receivers convert an optical signal into electrical HD SDI/SD SDI/DVB-ASI 1.5Gbps stream.

PORC-7221 module occupies one slot in the PROLFEX 1U/3U racks so that up to four transmitters fit into a 1U rack and up to fifteen into a 3U rack.

Features

  • Automatic input signal's standard detection with manual override option
  • EDH status indicators for SD SDI and CRC for HD SDI, per min/hour
  • Signal loss indication
  • Signal reclocking
  • PAL/NTSC monitor output (for SD SDI input standard)
  • High optical sensitivity (-31dBm for SDI/ASI and -27dBm for HD SDI)
  • Two output BNC connectors for the reclocked signal

General description

An input optical signal is applied to the photodiode, converted into electrical form and amplified. After the reclocking and reshaping, the signal is available at the BNC electrical output. A copy of restored signal is processed to recover the DVB-ASI or SDI stream. For the SD SDI stream the EDH status is collected, the PAL/NTSC video is decoded for monitoring.

Controls and indicators

All the controls and indicators are located at the module's frontal board

Modes of operation:

  • UTO – automatic input signal standard selection
  • FORCE – manual override of input standard selection
  • RESET EDH – EDH counters reset;

Indicators:

  • LOSS – lit when no input signal is detected
  • EDH DET – lit when an SDI signal with the EDH is present
  • EDH MIN/HOUR – lit when two or more EDH/CRC errors were detected within one hour/one minute interval
  • ASI,SDI, HD - input signal standard indication

Remote control from a PC
All “PROFLEX”-family devices are capable of a remote control from a PC via a PROFITT's proprietaty software packege. An optional CPU module installed in a PROFLEX rack provides the RS-232/RS-485/Ethernet connectivity.

Application example

In case of a single-fiber usage, just connect it to the receiver's input.
In case of the CWDM you should connect the receivers' inputs to an optical MUX/DEMUX observing the wavelength markings. PORC-7221 is sensitive to any wavelength in the 1100..1650nm band, it is possible to connect it to any MUX/DEMUX output to provide optical signal selectivity.
