PFSG-7317 series SD and HDTV synchrogenerators

PROFLEX™ PFSG-7317 series SD and HDTV synchrogenerators provide TLS (trilevel sync) analog signal for 18 HDTV standards and PAL "black burst" output, may be used as the reference source in a studio. Standalone or slave mode, accept either TLS or PAL/SECAM signals.

Inputs and outputs

PFSG-7317 features two pass-through BNC connectors for a REF input signal and four BNC outputs.

PFSG-7317 rear panel

PFSG-7317 may be referenced by a "GLOB REF" signal common for all the devices in a PROFLEX™ rack. Without an external reference signal PFSG-7313 operates in the stand-alone mode. The "1" and "2" outputs always produce the TLS signals, the "3" and "4" outputs are user-configurable:

  • the same standard as at the "1"/"2" outputs
  • PAL black-burst signal for a non-"M" HD standard from the above Table

Presets

The following presets are available:

  • sync signal delay/advance against the REF within ±850 Ft periods (FtHD=74,25MHz, FtPAL=27MHz) range on a TV line
  • sync signal delay/advance against the REF within ±50 TV lines in a TV frame
  • PAL subcarrier phase – within 360° range

General description

PFSG-7317 consists of two modules: the frontal one with all the indicators and controls, the rear one with Input/Output circuitry and connectors.

Controls and indicators

The MODE button toggles through all the modes, the UP and DOWN buttons edit them. A simultaneous depression of UP/DOWN button resets a parameter to the default value.

The indicators on the frontal panel:

  • 12/34 - lit when all four outputs (“1 2” and “3 4”) are selected for presets
  • HD/PAL - lit when “3 4” output group is being selected for presets
  • LINE - lit when the line per frame parameter of an HD standard is being preset
  • FRAME - lit when the frame frequency of an HD standard is being preset
  • H (the "TIMING" group) - lit when the advance/delay within a TV line is being preset
  • V (the "TIMING" group) - lit when the advance/delay within a TV frame is being preset
  • SC SHIFT - lit when the PAL subcarrier phase is being preset
  • +1000 – lit when the convinience measure of adding 1000 number to an HD line per frame parameter being entered
  • P/I – lit when an HD standard Progressive/Interleaved parameter is being preset
  • H (the "LOCK HD" group) – lit when the output TV line frequency is genlocked to the REF (only possible for equal H frequencies)
  • V (the "LOCK HD" group) – lit when the output TV frame frequency is genlocked to the REF (only possible for equal V frequencies)
  • H (the "LOCK SD" group) – lit when the output TV line frequency is genlocked to the REF (only possible for PAL/SECAM/black-burst REF)
  • V (the "LOCK SD" group) – lit when the output TV frame frequency is genlocked to the REF (only possible for equal V frequencies)
  • SC (the "LOCK SD" group) – lit when PAL subcarrier is REF-driven (PAL reference only)
  • REF – lit when the Ft is genlocked to the REF signal (only possible for standards with the same "M" parameter)

The remote control and management from a PC

All the “PROFLEX” modules are remote controllable from a PC. This facility is available if a rack is fitted with a CPU module (ordered separately).
